God’s Beloved Child

Poem

Little Ivan standing all by himself,
Trying to decipher his jumbled thoughts,
Trying to escape the distant rumbles,

Trying to mumble prayers of hope!

Little Ivan strangely stranded in his own land,

Surrounded by the ongoing chaotic scenes,

Suffocated by the ashes and blood,

Scared by the sight of aimless bodies!

Has God’s beloved child really been deserted?

For he’s looking for a safe place called ‘home’,

For he’s lamenting for a joyous childhood,

For he’s just longing for the love of his parents!

Doesn’t God’s beloved child deserve happiness?

For he’s torn by the greed of blindfolded leaders,

For he’s constantly dragging weary his body and teary soul,

For he’s just seeking for a warm pillow to rest!

As we celebrate International Happiness Day on March 20, 2022, let us pray for all the children of war-inflicted regions of the world. Our children deserve to be happy.

An Appeal

Dear Reader

65 years ago Mauritius Times was founded with a resolve to fight for justice and fairness and the advancement of the public good. It has never deviated from this principle no matter how daunting the challenges and how costly the price it has had to pay at different times of our history.

With print journalism struggling to keep afloat due to falling advertising revenues and the wide availability of free sources of information, it is crucially important for the Mauritius Times to survive and prosper. We can only continue doing it with the support of our readers.

The best way you can support our efforts is to take a subscription or by making a recurring donation through a Standing Order to our non-profit Foundation.
Thank you.
