The Ayodhya Mandir holds historical significance due to its association with the epic Ramayana and revered Lord Rama. The site has been established as the birthplace of Lord Rama.

The consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya on January 22, 2024, was celebrated with deep reverence and a profound spiritual connection. This historic moment resonated not only in India but also among the entire Hindu diaspora worldwide.

Similarly, the event carried significant cultural and religious importance for Hindus in Mauritius. Special pujas and religious ceremonies dedicated to Lord Ram were conducted, seeking his blessings during the consecration ceremony. A ‘second’ Diwali was also celebrated with cultural programmes, including music and dance performances, recitations of religious texts, and processions in honour of Lord Ram. The Hindu community in Mauritius came together for gatherings, fostering unity and celebrating the Pran Pratishtha ceremony. Ramj jyoti lamps were lit in houses, symbolizing the divine occasion.

Utilizing social media and digital platforms, the Hindu community shared their joy about the consecration ceremony, expressing devotion to Lord Ram and their profound spiritual connection to the divine moment.

During his speech at the consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi described Lord Ram as Maryada Purushottam, the embodiment of righteousness and the ideal man upholding moral and ethical values. Lord Ram was portrayed as a unifying figure, symbolizing unity and the ability to transcend differences. PM Modi emphasized Lord Ram’s inspirational teachings, highlighting his significance in India’s cultural heritage, and emphasizing his enduring presence in the nation’s traditions and beliefs.

Shri Modi affirmed that the construction of the Ram Lalla temple symbolizes peace, patience, harmony, and coordination. He emphasized that the construction is not fuelling conflict but generating positive energy. The Ram Mandir was seen as an inspiration for all sections of society to move towards a brighter future. He expressed hope that the temple’s construction would inspire collective efforts for the greater good, contributing to the nation’s progress and fostering inclusivity.

Overall, PM Modi’s message conveyed optimism, inclusivity, and a call for unity, reflecting on the cultural, spiritual, and social significance of the occasion. The consecration ceremony was viewed as a deeply spiritual and sacred event, fulfilling a long-standing aspiration to establish a temple dedicated to Lord Ram at his birthplace in Ayodhya. The ceremony evoked strong emotions and devotion among the participants.
