Poem

In Bitter Animosity, With love The Cross and The Voice

My cross gave you a voice. The voice for you

To talk, speak, dialogue, confer on all fronts

On common ground we agree to agree, agree to disagree

Beyond the seas united we are; your voice is our voice

The Little Star and Key among the Great

A pride we share despite our differences

Why do you want to shut me up now? Perplexing!

My services air and brighten the dark side of the coin

Bring melody to life, many hardships alleviated

We have same aim – the betterment of all

Our partnership is long-lasting under the umbrella

“There`s room under the sun for everyone” said the Mahatma

The right to be is equally yours and mine.

But if you do gag my voice now, what choice do you give me?

“Will you be able to earn my cross later?”

An Appeal

Dear Reader

65 years ago Mauritius Times was founded with a resolve to fight for justice and fairness and the advancement of the public good. It has never deviated from this principle no matter how daunting the challenges and how costly the price it has had to pay at different times of our history.

With print journalism struggling to keep afloat due to falling advertising revenues and the wide availability of free sources of information, it is crucially important for the Mauritius Times to survive and prosper. We can only continue doing it with the support of our readers.

The best way you can support our efforts is to take a subscription or by making a recurring donation through a Standing Order to our non-profit Foundation.
Thank you.
