Robin Greedharry

Remembrance

We are deeply saddened to announce the death of Robin (Rabin) Greedharry on February 8, 2024, in London, England. Robin was the youngest son of Dunbeea and Shanti Greedharry, brother to Sakountala (Sally) Greedharry (d. 2022) and Drone Greedharry (d. 1993).

Robin was born in Mauritius in 1949 and migrated with the family to London in the 1960s where he made his home for the rest of his life. When his father died soon after the family moved to London, teenage Robin’s studies were interrupted, and he began working full time to help support his mother and sister.

He worked conscientiously for local authorities across London, studying in his spare time as a mature student to obtain his degree from the University of Westminster. He had lifelong interests in art and antiques, current events, and football, and was always ready to have a chat about the state of the world or to share a joke to brighten your day.

He is remembered with great love and affection by the family, friends, and neighbours he leaves behind. He was an especially beloved uncle to Mrinalini and Praveen.

Remembrance of Robin’s life will be held in London. If you would like to attend the funeral or send a note to the family, please visit the website robingreedharry.uk

An Appeal

Dear Reader

65 years ago Mauritius Times was founded with a resolve to fight for justice and fairness and the advancement of the public good. It has never deviated from this principle no matter how daunting the challenges and how costly the price it has had to pay at different times of our history.

With print journalism struggling to keep afloat due to falling advertising revenues and the wide availability of free sources of information, it is crucially important for the Mauritius Times to survive and prosper. We can only continue doing it with the support of our readers.

The best way you can support our efforts is to take a subscription or by making a recurring donation through a Standing Order to our non-profit Foundation.
Thank you.
