The JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, Mauritius (JSSAHERM) hosted a prestigious ceremony to commemorate World Health Day 2026 on April 5 at its expansive 8-acre campus in Bonne Terre, Vacoas. The event underscored the institution’s growing influence in the regional healthcare and academic landscape.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hon Patrick Assirvaden, Minister of Energy and Public Utilities, served as the Chief Guest. He lauded the Academy\u2019s commitment to academic rigour and its role as a “melting pot of cultures,” noting the vibrant presence of international students within the Vacoas constituency. Since its establishment in 2018, JSSAHERM has evolved into a premier destination for higher education, offering accredited programmes across three core faculties: Health Sciences, Life Sciences, and Management Studies.<\/span><\/p>\n

Key milestones shared during the proceedings<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

* MBBS Programme Commencement: Professor (Dr) Praveen Mohadeb, CEO and Vice Chancellor, announced the launch of the Academy\u2019s MBBS programme, marking a new chapter in medical education for the country.<\/span><\/p>\n

* Newsletter Launch: The Minister officially released the 16th issue of the JSSAHERM “Health and Education” Newsletter.<\/span><\/p>\n

* Medical Endorsement: Dr Sookha Manish Rai, Chairperson of the Medical Council and Guest of Honour, praised the institution’s ongoing contributions to the health sector.<\/span><\/p>\n

Community Outreach: Free Health Camp<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Extending the spirit of World Health Day beyond the classroom, JSSAHERM organized a Free Health Camp on April 4 at the Cascavelle Shopping Mall. The initiative provided the public with accessible health screenings and professional consultations, bridging the gap between academic expertise and community wellness.<\/span><\/p>\n

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks from the Registrar, Mr Naveen K.P., reaffirming the Academy’s mission to blend compassionate service with world-class education.<\/span><\/p>\n
