The ceremony, held just days ago, marks a pivotal moment in the country\u2019s journey toward becoming an education and wellness hub. The launch was attended by a prestigious Mauritian officials and Indian dignitaries, underscoring the “deeply rooted” partnership between the two nations.<\/span><\/p>\n

A Vision of Excellence and Compassion<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The President of the Republic of Mauritius, Dharam Gokhool headlined the event, describing the inauguration as far more than a simple academic achievement. According to the President, the school represents the laying of a “strong foundation for healthcare excellence” and a critical step in developing the nation\u2019s human capital.<\/span><\/p>\n

The spiritual and visionary backbone of the institute was represented by\u00a0H.H. Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji, Chancellor of JSSAHERM. In his address, he reminded the inaugural cohort that medical education is a “sacred responsibility.” He traced the lineage of this project back to 2002, noting it was inspired by the vision of former Indian Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee to bind India and Mauritius through the power of education.<\/span><\/p>\n

The introduction of the MBBS programme comes at a crucial time for the region. Regarding health infrastructure, Hon Anil Bachoo, Minister of Health and Wellness, noted that the school is a strategic investment in a workforce capable of tackling non-communicable diseases. Simultaneously, this initiative bolsters Mauritius\u2019 regional hub status, as Hon Dr Kaviraj Sharma Sukon, Minister of Tertiary Education, emphasized that JSSAHERM\u2019s commitment to international benchmarking aligns perfectly with the national goal of becoming a regional education powerhouse.<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0High Commissioner of India, Shri Anurag Srivastava, reaffirmed India’s continued support for student mobility and educational collaboration, noting that Mauritius is rapidly emerging as a destination of choice for international students.<\/span><\/p>\n

Roadmap to 2035: Beyond the Classroom<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

A highlight of the ceremony was the official release of\u00a0\u201cJSSAHER Mauritius Vision 2035: From Medical Education to a Global Knowledge, Wellness & Innovation<\/em> Hub.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0This strategic roadmap outlines the university\u2019s evolution into a “model island-nation university,” focusing on:<\/span><\/p>\n

    “The setting up of the JSS Medical School is poised to be a game-changer,” stated\u00a0Dr Praveen Mohadeb, CEO and Vice-Chancellor of JSSAHERM, during his welcome address.<\/span><\/p>\n

    The event opened with the stirring notes of the national anthems of both Mauritius and India, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp.
