{"id":42059,"date":"2025-01-17T21:29:23","date_gmt":"2025-01-17T17:29:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mauritiustimes.com\/mt\/?p=42059"},"modified":"2025-01-17T21:29:23","modified_gmt":"2025-01-17T17:29:23","slug":"obituary-marc-ah-chuen-managing-director-of-abc-foods","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mauritiustimes.com\/mt\/obituary-marc-ah-chuen-managing-director-of-abc-foods\/","title":{"rendered":"Obituary: Marc Ah-Chuen, Managing Director of ABC Foods"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><u><span style=\"color: #cc99ff;\">Obituary<\/span><br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It is with profound sadness that the ABC Group of Companies announces the passing of <strong>Marc Ah-Chuen<\/strong>, Managing Director of ABC Foods, who breathed his last on Wednesday at the age of 79.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Marc Ah-Chuen will be remembered as a pivotal figure in the history of ABC Foods and the ABC Group, where his dedication and leadership steered the foods cluster through decades of remarkable success and growth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The youngest of the Ah-Chuen brothers, Marc began his career at the age of 19, joining Chue Wing &amp; Co Ltd (now known as ABC Foods) as a storekeeper after completing his secondary education at St Mary\u2019s College. Starting at the bottom rung of the ladder, he steadily climbed the ranks, playing a key role in the diversification of ABC Foods.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Among his many accomplishments was the establishment of <strong>Oriental Foods<\/strong> in 1982, a factory producing Asian sauces, including the renowned Yeo\u2019s brand. Under his vision, ABC Foods became the distributor of instant Apollo noodles and other internationally acclaimed brands such as Bakers and Tsingtao in Mauritius.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Marc assumed leadership of ABC Foods in the 1990s. He oversaw significant milestones, including the relocation of the company&#8217;s headquarters and distribution centre to Trianon in 2010, the launch of Dolly milk, and the expansion of the company\u2019s distribution channels to include the HORECA sector.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Under his stewardship, ABC Foods broadened its portfolio, introducing non-food items such as cosmetics, personal care products, and more recently, pharmaceuticals and parapharmaceuticals.
