Official Launch of the “Green Rangers” Program<\/span>
\n<\/u><\/h4>\n

Quality Beverages Limited (QBL), in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Higher Education, Science, and Technology, and Precious Plastic Mauritius, has officially launched the “Green Rangers” program. This new initiative aims to combat plastic pollution through education and awareness, targeting young people with practical solutions to mitigate its impact on the environment.<\/span><\/p>\n

The “Green Rangers” program, part of the extracurricular activities for Grade 8 students and beyond, features a series of theoretical and hands-on activities and workshops focused on the three R’s: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. After a successful pilot phase involving 15 schools in Zone 2 and over 270 students, the program was formally launched on August 22, 2024, at the Rajiv Gandhi Science Centre in Bell Village.<\/span><\/p>\n

The launch event was attended by Raj Dansinghani, Senior Advisor at the Ministry of Education; Inigo de Prado, Managing Director of QBL; and various school officials, teachers, and students. Highlights included the awarding of certificates to participants, the announcement of the mascot competition winner, and an exhibition showcasing student projects.<\/span><\/p>\n

The MGSSS Moka emerged as the winner of the mascot competition with its project “Eco \u2013 Ella, the Blooming Seaturtle,” receiving a cash prize of Rs 25,000. The Manilal Doctor SSS and Bel Air SSS were awarded second and third place, respectively, with prizes of Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000. The exhibition underscored the students’ commitment to addressing plastic pollution and demonstrated their creativity.<\/span><\/p>\n

Raj Dansinghani praised the “Green Rangers” initiative, emphasizing the importance of collective responsibility in protecting the environment. “We are all aware of the risks associated with plastic pollution. Unfortunately, in Mauritius, many waste products, including plastics, end up in nature. I am thrilled to see the youth, with the support of their schools, teachers, and QBL, taking proactive steps to clean up our environment,” Dansinghani said. He encouraged participants to become ambassadors for the cause and to inspire their peers to get involved.<\/span><\/p>\n

Inigo de Prado highlighted that the “Green Rangers” program aligns with QBL\u2019s sustainability goals, aiming to educate youth on the importance of recycling plastic waste. He also outlined QBL\u2019s recent sustainability efforts, including reducing plastic use in packaging, using recycled plastics (rPET), offering low and zero-sugar beverages, reducing water consumption, and investing in rainwater collection and advanced equipment to lower carbon emissions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Beyond environmental initiatives, QBL supports physical activity and sports for a better quality of life. The company backs programs like “Natation Scolaire,” integrated into the school curriculum in 2023 and now reaching approximately 15,000 Grade 4 students annually. QBL also fights hunger through food donations to NGOs.<\/span><\/p>\n
