The President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Rajkeshwar Purryag launched three books of Anitah Aujayeb. She is a long-time writer and poet, a teacher of English in a State Secondary School, and a tutor of literature in English at the Open University of Mauritius<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Verdana; color: #000000;\">The books were launched in collaboration with the Municipal Council of Quatre Bornes and the Ministry of Arts and Culture in the Town Hall of the locality. The venue gathered a good crowd of eminent people, namely Hon Satyadeo Moutia, Mr Raouf Bundhun, former Vice President, Professor Jugessur, Chairman of Council of the University of Mauritius, Mr Mohamed Vayid, President of the English Speaking Union (ESU), members of the ESU, members of the Mauritian Writers Association, the Electoral Commissioner Mr I. Rahman, Commissioner of the PSC Mr I Chan Kam Lon amongst other literature lovers and publishers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Verdana; color: #000000;\">The Bishop of Mauritius and Archbishop of the Province of the Indian Ocean spoke in good terms about the first book entitled \u2018Waves of Life\u2019 for which he wrote the preface, while Dr Vele Putchay, senior lecturer at the Mauritius Institute of Education, who had prefaced the second publication entitled \u2018Po\u00e9sies Spirituelles\u2019 said that it came as a pleasant surprise to him for he had always known Anitah Aujayeb as an Anglophone writer. Nevertheless, the writer has done great justice to French poetry, especially on the spiritual level, he added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Verdana; color: #000000;\">The Interim Minister of Arts and Culture Mr Satyadeo Moutia spoke on behalf of his colleague Hon M Choonee about the author\u2019s commitment towards literature and her achievements, being first of all a good public officer with great intellectual resources.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Verdana; color: #000000;\">The audience had a feast for the ears through the musical excerpts offered by the \u2018Ecole de Musique Arpege\u2019 under the guidance of Mr Percy Appadoo. This greatly enhanced the program of the day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Verdana; color: #000000;\">The keynote speech was delivered by the President of the Republic. He reminded the gathering about how he had launched the author\u2019s first book at the same place in 1999. He also spoke about literature as a means of connecting people together in a peaceful way. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Verdana; color: #000000;\">The author, Anitah Aujayeb, explained that the third book entitled \u2018Satyam Shivam Sundaram\u2019 was a French translation of the original work written in English by Professor Kasturi on the real life of the incarnation of the age, Bhagwan Shri Satya Sai Baba.
