I mourn your departure but I should not.
A messenger of peace sent from Heaven
A good person and a man of duty
Also a powerful intellectual
With your savvy, style, tact and elegance
You came, you served, you enriched all of us!
Ubiquitous and multitudinous
You have your home in the minds and memories
Of countless students, fellow diplomats
Ordinary people and Presidents.
Grateful compatriots cannot forget
Pages of our history you helped to write.
Some miss the friend, the dad, the companion…
But all will miss a true Human Being.

65 years ago Mauritius Times was founded with a resolve to fight for justice and fairness and the advancement of the public good. It has never deviated from this principle no matter how daunting the challenges and how costly the price it has had to pay at different times of our history.
